This tutorial will introduce some of the built-in layout options for the Genesis Framework. All semi-custom WordPress themes available for purchase from Designer Blogs include the following Genesis layout options.
Page and Post Layout Options
There are six layout options that can be changed for individual pages and posts.
To change the location and number of sidebars across your entire site, go to Dashboard > Genesis > Theme Settings.
Sometimes you may want a page or post to have a specific layout while the rest of the site has a different layout. From the post or page editing window, scroll down until you see the Layout Settings. Select the layout option you prefer and click Publish/Update to save your changes.
Featured Images on Blog Page
If you have a preference to show excerpts of your blog page, you can adjust this setting under Dashboard> Genesis > Theme Settings. Scroll down to Content Archives. Select Display post excerpts and check the box for Featured Image.
Select the image size that you would like for the featured image that will appear by your blog excerpt content. For larger image sizes, such as 1024 x 1024, you will need to change the layout to full-width.
You will also find additional settings for navigation under Theme Settings.
Breadcrumbs help visitors navigate your site by showing where they are at a glance.
Under Content Archives, you can select how the navigation works underneath blog posts by choosing Previous/Next or Numeric.
