Hey crowd! I’m super excited to introduce you to our Featured Client this month: Katie from House 54
What other blogs or sites inspire you?: There are so many blogs out there that inspire me and my list is long.
To name a few, Kelle Hampton has an amazing blog called, “Enjoying The Small Things”. She writes with such an uplifting tone, takes beautiful pictures, and I like that I can relate to her not only because she’s also a mom, but because we both have a child with Down syndrome.
There is also a blog by Katie Leavitt called, “Running On Happiness” which is also fantastic. For starters, I love the title of her blog. That in itself is inspiring! I also find Katie’s fashion and styling ideas to be so creative. And it doesn’t hurt that we share the same name. 😉
Being totally biased, I also love my husband’s blog “The Sidewalk Shop”. It’s been a dream and a passion of his for quite some time to share what he knows about vintage memorabilia and skateboards, and nothing brings me more joy than watching him find “the perfect picture” for his next post. And when he posts it, it’s just so fun to see him light up like a little kid at Christmas when he sees the overwhelming response by his followers, particularly those on Instagram. Even though we have completely different blogging topics, I like that we still enjoy what the other one has to share.
Tell us about the design makeover process? How did you choose the colors, fonts and ideas that inspire your personal brand?: I wanted the blog to have a clean, somewhat girly look. Something that looked professional but that also reflected who I am as a person and my personality. My favorite color is pink, so that was the first and most obvious choice. The blue-green color, gray, and yellow — just sort of fell onto the page during the design process. It looked good and so we went with it! I should mention that my husband, Stanton, helped me design the entire thing. He just so happens to be, as I like to say, “a Photoshop connoisseur” and works at an advertising firm during the day, creating and designing things for a living. Lucky me, right? This really allowed me to be hands-on of the design process and it ended up being something we really had fun doing together.
Then we found Courtney @ Designer Blogs and she really helped bring it all together. She added fun little touches here and there, installed the artwork we sent to her, and voila! House 54 was born!
Anything else you want people to know about you or your blog?: Just that I have a real passion for what it is that I’m doing and sharing. I love that I can share a little about my family, share the recipes we all eat and enjoy together, and in the end — hopefully impact and help a few people to make healthier choices for themselves and their families along the way. I strongly believe that everyone should be on a Gluten Free diet and one of my goals is to prove to people exactly why it would benefit their overall health and their lives. And of course, I want people to see how truly easy it is to Go Gluten Free, especially if you have a friendly and resourceful guide like me!
That was great, Katie!! Thank you so much for sharing with us!
It was such an absolute pleasure working with you!
